Aquatint with original hand colour.  265 x 210mm. Slightly stained in bottom margin, trimmed just inside the platemark.
A dandy accidentally pelted with mud by an urchin.

Theodore Lane, born 1800 at Isleworth, Middlesex, originally studied engraving and then portrait painting. He exhibited at the Royal Academy at the age of 16, before turning to humorous subjects. He became well known for his caricatures to of George IV and Queen Caroline. He died in 1828 when he fell through a skylight.
